Insignificant and Lowly Spawn

My SCORM Proselytes,

I thank you for your observations and explorations concerning the province of SCORM. These probes will only bring you closer into the cherished sanctuary and incessant canyon for which most yield to the pure blight of shareable content objects and the far-reaching anxiety of the reference model…your assimilation is upon you!

Out of the far reaches of time and space, a nameless entity begins to reveal itself. The movement brings shock waves that are unimaginable that not even Super Saiyan Goku would dare peer his eyes in that direction but cower in unconditional terror. It has no name but desires to combine with the ALMIGHTY SCORM as if they are the Wonder Twins to produce a spawn...which would be insignificant and lowly to the ALMIGHTY SCORM. This malignant monstrosity will go beyond the reaches of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and web browsers.

What is this pernicious pupil called? What is it’s purpose? Will it’s capabilities reach outside of launching and facilitating learning experiences?

BEHOLD…! THE EXPERIENCE APPLICATION PROGRAM INTERFACE (xAPI)!!

With only the pure blessing of the ALMIGHTY SCORM this abnormal abomination was allowed to be born. This malevolent mutation xAPI utilizes the Learning Record Store (LRS), which retrieves and studies data of learning experiences that is outside of the realm of LMS. This baleful brigand xAPI allows learners to take eLearning over mobile devices and does not need a web browser. Oh how the ALMIGHT SCORM allowed such a rancorous fiend to run amuck…unchecked and unsupervised by the LMS. Only time will tell but we must trust in the ALMIGHT SCORM and not lose heart.

This malign tumor thinks the ALMIGHT SCORM will step aside one day…foolish xAPI…you have already lost…BWAH…HA…HA!

Below, for additional material…be warned…the ALMIGHT SCORM is watching…

  1. Andy...or I mean SCORM Master,
I think the xAPI system is the future and that SCORM will eventually become absorbed by this new software/technology. You had a great run though, but change is good for everyone. Just like us, we will eventually be replaced as well. Cheers to a great run brother!

  2. Andy aka SCOR Master,

I agree with Charles on this one. I think the xAPI system is the way of the future. Dare I say you're old news? Why would anyone want to continue under your leadership and direction when clearly there is a better alternative? Why would anyone in modern society choose to follow SCORM when xAPI systems allow for mobile capabilities without the need of a web browser? Why would we even consider to have you as our leader SCORM master? If you can answer this question and explain Why you over xAPI then maybe I'll continue to follow. Otherwise. I'm out!

  3. Scorn Master,
I am amazed by the awesome application of alliteration. I will admit the cantankerous xAPI caused continuous confusion but I remain cautiously curious. As you say, I doubt this dubious and duplicitous devil (xAPI) is dangerous to the domination of SCORM. Likewise, I look forward to learning lots more.

  4. Oh careless fools you forget your place! Did you forget this is a blog for instructional design? Do you not realize xAPI is a spawn that SCORM allowed to affect mostly learners? I told you SCORM is always watching…xAPI has no dominion in an LMS, which has authoring tools for instructional designers need to manage content, deploy the lesson and share across instructional designer teams. The xAPI collects more data and does not require a web browser but that is only a small portion of what an instructional designer needs. You are very fortunate that THE ALMIGHT SCORM is merciful…or is it…BWAH…HA…HA!
