My SCORM Disciples,
I thank you for your remarks and inquiries concerning the domain of SCORM. These queries will only bring you closer into the innermost temple and boundless chasm for which most succumb to the pure agony of shareable content objects and the sheer terror of the reference model…keep them coming!
My assimilation to SCORM started a millennia ago while aiding a cohort to improve/replace eLearning for a nationwide militant group. Majority of the work was contracted out to a syndicate that mostly consisted of ghostwriter mercenaries that possessed a piece of parchment that stated “I am a creative writer...pay me.” These imaginative playwrights along with their Overlord and their outsourced graphic designers/illustrators that they kept locked in their dungeon created scenarios, storyboards, characters and graphics. These items are then packaged and put into digital media. The media, in this case are shareable content objects that will later be placed into a Learning Management System (LMS). The objects must abide by a standard that all LMSs can read…a reference model.
As an instructional designer who may have to be subjugated to eLearning (such as distance or distributed learning), SCORM would be your ‘precious’ but only with inter-fandom professional relations with all or part anime, Star Trek and Star Wars factions to aid you in completing your task of reviewing, validating and pushing out the engine of mind/behavior augmentation to the masses. These digital commando cartels have many names such as Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) or Distributed Learning Support (DLS) to name a few. Don’t be alarmed…the inner circle of these wired warriors are very friendly and are always willing to put down their pulse rifles and push CTRL, ALT & DELETE to ensure proper encapsulation of the shareable content objects that was received from an overpaid guild of scriptwriters to be placed into an LMS.
The final product of this eLearning has been since sent out to assimilate the masses and further the subjugation to the militant groups rule.
Below, for additional material I found a YouTube video that is SCORM Compliant. I have to warn you that the voice narrating the video can place you in a SCORM trance…open and watch at your own risk of becoming SCORM Compliant.
Hey SCORM Master,
ReplyDeleteI think the spin you placed on your blog this week kept me interested. I way your blended the various comparisons, I felt as if it was in an episode of Storm Ship Troopers, and I was joining the federation to become a citizen. The way you gave relatable information gave me a better understanding of SCORM and the video although in a robotic voice gave it more reinforcement. Keep it up, I will definitely stayed tuned in to see what is next.

Andy,
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of SCROM before reading this. I was aware that some type of agreement exsisted in order for things to work together. I was under the impression that a bunch of computer geeks would just randomly gather in one of their moms basements. Cook up a bunch of hot pockets and agree to some rules. I had to do some research to understand it. It makes sense. It is the reason you can go from one to another and hot keys like control+V means paste. I did some other research to see what is an alternative to SCORM. I couldn't find anything specific but I assume there is. Similar to how apple and Microsoft have their own set of technical standards making some applications only work for one and not the other. Does this mean SCORM is the only standard for elearning?
Andy, this is entertainment. I am a Star Wars geek so I am all about the drama. However, I also learned something about SCORM. Thank you for the brief respite from projects and associated reading.

Andy,
ReplyDeleteI look forward to visiting your blog. I am a huge sci-fi fan and reading your blog reminds me of the hundreds of books I have read, and it teaches me something new every week about SCORM. The Matrix movies need to hire you for the next movie. I look forward to your next blog adventure post!

Andy,
ReplyDeleteI think your blog out nerded me this weekend. Unlike Walt who completed his service to become a citizen, I don’t think I would pass the test lol. Looks like I will have to tune in again next week and get some more info.
