Putrescent AICC

My SCORM Organisms,

I thank you for your remarks and inquiries concerning the domain of SCORM. These queries will only bring you closer into the intimate shrine and ceaseless gorge for which most surrender to the untainted torment of shareable content objects and the complete trepidation of the reference model…your assimilation is upon you!

From the last blog post, it was asked “Are there any alternatives to SCORM (said in a feeble voice)?” Obviously, the bacterium that asked this question is being obstinate to the inexorable conclusion and defeat to the ALMIGHTY SCORM! Nevertheless, if I must…I must answer the question, but only to bring all too certain inference that all will be SCORM SUBJECTS!

There has been one…and only one inferior rival to SCORM. I would prefer not say such language for it is beneath SCORM, but it was called Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee (AICC). AICC was originally developed for aviation training simulations prior to SCORM when security protocols did not exist in web browsers (HTTP, now we use HTTPS). To ensure secure eLearning (I must remind all subjects SCORM is for developing eLearning) the MIGHTY SCORM came down from the heavens and SMITE the lowly AICC…back in 2014.  Some remanence remains of that putrescent AICC but only in whispers and shadows for its deprived factions fear for their lives and their unsecure eLearning to be assimilated and righteously secured by the SCORM.

Oh…how I dream of the day that the zeros and ones will secure and encapsulate AICC disciples and bring them into the dominion of SCORM.

Below, for additional material I found a YouTube video that is SCORM Compliant. I have to warn you that the enthralling narration on the video can place you in a SCORM abstraction…open and watch at your own risk of becoming consumed in the SCORM.

  1. Scrom Master,
I feel like you purposely choose to explain an archaic system because you are scared to talk about the younger and more capable xAPI. The new up and coming xAPI can be used outside of LMS platforms giving it a versatility that SCORM lacks. It can also track progress off line and can be operated with out a web-browser. Looks like SCORM will soon be hanging out with AICC in the land of the forgotten.

  2. Your insolence will be dealt with soon enough. But, as I am a higher being of intellect and absolute power, I know your assimilation is inevitable and you will conform to the SCORM. You speak of half-truths of xAPI and you and the rest of the organisms will receive the full brunt of the SCORM and be forced to bend the knee as you tremble in despair…thank you for your question.

I enjoy reading your posts, if not purely for entertainment, as they do an excellent job of contrasting and comparing current and forgotten systems. One cannot know where they are going without first knowing where they were, and technology is no different. Every “latest and greatest” is sure to fall to the next big thing coming out of the labs at MIT or even the suburban basement where a the next tech-genius teenager is angrily coding while muttering to themselves about not being invited to the upcoming kegger in the football captain’s back forty. Do not get me wrong, while I was the kid at all the parties and on all the teams, my son will not pick up a ball to save his life. He is the kid in the basement. Moreover, I, after many years of frustration, have begun to shift my support to what interests him. I hope that he someday has a positive impact on the world through his dedication to computer programming. In summation, my point is that regardless of the power or capability of any technology, it is simply waiting to become obsolete. Again, thanks for your posts, they always provide me with a good chuckle.

  4. Andy, reading your posts always makes me laugh but I always learn something as well. It is rare for anything technology based to ever truly last. Unless we are talking about Oregon Trail. That game will always have my attention and I think there is nothing better besides maybe Tetris. I think maybe this is how you feel about SCORM. Thank you again for the information.
